HELEN M. PAULSON, 87 ARGYLE - Helen M. Paulson, 87, of Argyle passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Provena Cor Mariae Center. Born Sept. 7, 1922, in Loves Park, the daughter of Uriah and Dora (Anderson) Hull. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1941. Married Warren Paulson on Dec. 11, 1943, celebrating 66 years together. Formerly employed by Davey Pump Co., Heims Machinist Supply, Ingersoll Milling Machine, Sundstrand Corp. and Dixon Automation. Helen farmed with Warren and was one of the first women to drive a tractor doing fieldwork. She drove a truck for the family machine business and helped with secretarial work. She was the first female driver to win the women's division tractor pull in 1962 at the Boone County Fair. She loved bowling, golf and playing bridge. Elected to the Greater Rockford Area Bowler's Hall of Fame in 2003. Helen always had a smile and two kisses for everyone. Member of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church. Survivors include husband, Warren; granddaughters, Tina (Dale) Axelson, Tricia (Brad) Hickey and Jennifer Paulson; great-grandchildren, Colten Boomgarden and Cameron Gniadek; daughter-in-law, Darlene Paulson; special niece, Karen Nelson; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special caregiver, Lily McMillan; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and dear friends, Gary Carlson and Jack Houck. Predeceased by her son, Wayne in 2006; parents; and brother, Warren. Service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, in Willow Creek Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Karen Stunkel officiating. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
