Wayne A. Maavich, 68 SOUTH BELOIT - Wayne A. Maavich, 68, of South Beloit died at 8:39 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a year-long battle with cancer. Born Dec. 4, 1941, in Rockford, the son of William and Iola (Mitchell) Maavich. He married Charlene Gibson on June 16, 1962, in Rockford. Wayne worked most of his life as a carpenter. He started working at Northwest Construction when he was 16 and worked on the Byron power plant and several other projects during his lifetime. Wayne was self-employed and worked most recently for Carl Freeman Builders. He was a member of Local 792. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; sons, Alan (Sherry), Russ (Cheryl), Tim (Tammy) and Troy Maavich; daughter, Tina (Zack) Percell; grandchildren, Dylan, Jake, Randy, Alex, Brett, Ryan, Kate, Alyssa and Hayden; brothers, Jim (Sandy), Mike (Sue), Joe and Tom Maavich and Jack Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Billy and Sam; and sister-in-law, Mary. Thank you to the OSF Hospice staff who took care of Wayne, especially Mary Lou, Sue, Michelle, Lauren and Ed.
