Donald N. Piskie, 70 BELVIDERE - Donald N. Piskie, 70, of Belvidere died Friday, July 9, 2010, in his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born April 16, 1940, in Belvidere to Norman and Lucille (Smith) Piskie. He married Patricia Nash on Sept. 18, 1981. Don was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a carpenter for many years. He then worked as a city building inspector until 1986 when he returned to carpentry and worked as a groundskeeper at the Marengo Park District until 2001. He loved fishing, gardening, quilting, growing flowers and spending time with family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia; children, Shelley Piskie of Tennessee, Scott (Paula) Piskie of Tennessee, Deborah Burow of Belvidere and Karlene (Michael) Timm of Clinton, Wis.; son-in-law, Geoffrey England of Idaho; brothers, Robert Piskie of Columbus, Ind., and Larry (Colette) Piskie of Sarona, Wis.; and his sister, Mary Lou (Gary) Dahl of Marengo; grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Hayden, Hunter, Josh, Renae, Adam, Heather, Jessica, Rachel, Jaqueline and Stephanie; and great-grandson, Johnathon. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Kelly England. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, in Zion Lutheran Church, 408 Jackson St., Marengo, with Pastor Glen Borhart officiating. Private interment in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 12, in the church. Memorials may be made in his name to Northern Illinois Hospice, Rockford, or to Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home.
