VERNA JEAN KAIL, 76 ROCKFORD - Verna Jean Kail, 76, left this Earth Oct. 19, 2010, to meet her Lord, Jesus Christ. She died at home with her family at her side. Born Feb. 5, 1934, in Kennett, Mo., and moved to Rockford in her 20s. Verna lived her life to the fullest. She loved country music and a good laugh. She had a soft place in her heart for all types of animals. Verna would remember her best days as owning the Lamplight Tavern for more than 40 years. She enjoyed preaching the love of God while giving advice to her customers, playing DJ, and telling her daughters what they should do with their lives. She would often say her daughters were truly her best friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends, with whom she has left a lifetime of memories and many touching stories. Verna leaves behind daughters, Kathy Land-Clingon, Diana Young, Sharon Graham-Doughty, Patsy Bell, Leslie Kail-Villarreal; son, Jimmy Sharp; grandchildren, Larry Land, Allen Amerine, Nicky Amerine, Shawn Graham, Reanna Mindy Moore, Tyler Villarreal, Jennifer Alan, Makeesha Sharp, Nathan Sharp; sisters, Beatrice Haigwood and Linda Hausman; and 12 great-grandchildren.
