Willie George Austin, 72 ROCKFORD - Willie George Austin, 72, of Rockford departed this earthly life Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in his home after a long illness. Born May 6, 1938, in Brownsville, Tenn., the son of Jack and Willie Austin. Willie lived in Rockford since he was 18 years old, coming from Brownsville. He was employed by Humphery Cadillac and Olds for many years and Widsor Auto Sales and Orsinger Auto. Willie loved to fish and was loved by all. He attended school in Tennessee. Willie leaves to cherish many memories, includes daughters, Lucille Johnson, Annette (Lonnie Drayton) Hardnett and Rosalind Lazette Harris and Vianne Evans, all of Rockford; sons, William (Vanessa) Harris, George "Anthony" Austin and Steven Harris, all of Rockford; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Austin, and sister, Rosetta Austin, both of Rockford; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; special granddaughter, LaKeysha (Paul) Thompson; special grandson, Kevin Harris; and special nephews, Anthony Megail Austin and Wilbert Austin. He was predeceased by his parents; son, the Rev. Cornell Thompson; three sisters; three brothers; and lifelong companion, Mary Harris. Special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice and Act Medical Center. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State St., with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. The Rev. Luther Robinson will officiate. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
