FRIEDA A. EKSTEN, 93 LOVING MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER ROCKFORD - Frieda A. Eksten, 93, of Rockford went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born Dec. 6, 1917, in Wenona, the daughter of Richard R. and Martha P. (Block) Stenzel. Frieda graduated from Rockford High School in 1935. Married Raymond C. Eksten on Aug. 10, 1940, in Rockford. Frieda worked for Barber-Colman Co., Howard H. Monk Advertising Agency and Washington National Insurance Co. as an executive secretary. Charter member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Sunday school secretary, choir and Ladies Guild member. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crosswords puzzles, singing hymns, visiting family and friends, and playing Skip-Bo with her lady friends at Fairhaven. Frieda will be remembered for her steadfast love for her Savior, and also for her deep love for her family. She now joins her husband, Raymond, and elder son, Ronald Eksten, in the glorious presence of her Creator. She will be forever remembered by her survivors son, Robert (Jean) Eksten of Melbourne, Fla.; daughter, Janet (Palmer) Klaas of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Eksten of Wilmington, N.C.; brother, Robert (Charlene) Stenzel of Sun City, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jacqui (Steve) Kudzma of Roscoe, Leslie (Stephan) Seyfert of Champaign, Joanna Klaas of Houston, Karen (Matt) Roop of Jacksonville, Fla., Beth Looney and Rob Eksten of Wilmington; great-grandchildren, Jack and Scott Looney of Wilmington. Predeceased also by her parents; sisters, Patricia Lindstedt, Gladys Carlson and Louise Morley; and brothers, Walter and Fred Stenzel. Service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Alpine Road, with visitation from noon to 1:15 p.m. Pastor Kenneth Krause will officiate. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials to Mount Olive Lutheran Church and Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Fred C.
