MILDRED NOREEN BANKSON, 95 ROCKFORD - Mildred Noreen Bankson, 95, of Rockford went to be with her Lord Monday, March 14, 2011. Born March 10, 1916, in Stockport, Iowa, the daughter of Charles E and Edith (Packer) Bunker. Married Leo Bank-son in Kahoka, Mo., on July 16, 1932. She was a Sunday School teacher and taught bible classes at Fairhaven Retirement Home, was a missionary to American Indians in South Dakota, Girl Scout leader, ordained minister with Assembly of God Church and taught in Central Indian Bible College. Mildred was a remarkable women. Tireless in her ministry and always ready and willing to help. She loved to bake cookies for her family and friends. Survived by son, Michael (Penny) Bankson of Ethel, La.; daughter, Marla (Jack) Peterson of Rockford; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Predeceased by her husband, the Rev. Leo Bankson; daughter, Donna; parents; and sister, Mary. Service at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, in Rockford First Church, 5950 Spring Creek Road, Rockford, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; the Rev. Mike Elias will officiate. Internment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to be distributed to the Indian Missions. Arrangements by Sunset Funeral Home.
