CHARLES 'CHUCK' HANKINS, 56 HANOVER PARK - Charles "Chuck" Hankins, a Hanover Park resident, raised in Rockford, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2011. Born June 21, 1954, in Rockford to Beatrice and Charles Hankins. A U.S. Army veteran. Over the years he was employed as a fiberglass craftsman, truck driver and construction worker. He enjoyed traveling, photography, antiques and nature. Chuck was a creative inventor whose craft was carpentry and he showed his love to friends and family through his beautiful woodworking. He was warmly loved by us all and he will be greatly missed. Survivors include mother, Beatrice Otdoerfer; fiancée, Peggy Burke; son, Charles (Salena) Hankins; granddaughter, Sloane; sisters, Karen (Steve) Kemmer, Trudy Lewis and Jennifer (David) Retzlaff; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father and sister, Linda DeLine. Memorial service at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Temple Baptist Church, 3215 E. State St., Rockford. In lieu of flowers, donations to benefit his new granddaughter, Sloane Hankins.
