walter e. stubblefield, 80 SEPT. 5, 1930 TO JULY 21, 2011 ROCKFORD - Walter E. Stubblefield, 80, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011, at a local nursing facility in Rockford. Walter was born in Willis, Texas to Young E. and Janie Stubblefield. He attended his early schooling in Willis and Galveston, Texas where he graduated from high school. He received a bachelor's degree in agriculture and a master's degree in education from Prairie View A & M University in Prairie View, Texas. Walter also served in the Army, in which he received an honorable discharge. Walter was an educator for many years. In his later years, he was employed by Woodward Governor in Rockford, from which he retired. Member of Court Street Methodist Church. Survived by daughter, Rochelle Stubblefield (Lewis) McGowan of Hewitt, Texas; brothers, Tobias (Alice) Stubblefield Sr., of Texas City, Texas, Ferman (Louise) Stubblefield of Kennewick, Wash., and Melvin R. (Fannie) Stubblefield of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Stubblefield of Fort Worth, Texas; and grandchildren, Marcus McGowan of Carrolton, Texas, Misha McGowan of Arlington, Texas, Eryn Stubblefield and Devin Stubblefield, both of Fort Worth. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Emma; son, Derek E. Stubblefield; and brother, Goffrey V. Stubblefield. The family would like to thank Dr. Allen Williams, Attorney Sharon Rudy, Rockford Supportive Living, the staff of Alden Alma Nelson and the Hospice team for their dedication and personal care. Graveside services are pending. He will be laid to rest in the Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery in Willis, Texas.
