ROBERT E. RAYWOOD, 93 ROCKFORD - Robert E. Raywood, 93, of Rockford died at 10:47 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012, in Wesley Willows. Born June 25, 1918, in Dundee, son of Albert and Mabel (Ramm) Raywood. Veteran of World War II, serving as First Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Burma, receiving the Bronze Star. Married Evelyn J. Laux on Aug. 10, 1940, in Elgin. Owned and operated Buthe Music Service in the Elgin area for many years. Member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and Veteran of Foreign Wars, both in Elgin. Oldest and lifetime member of Fox Valley Saddle Association, serving twice as president. Survivors include daughter, Janet (William) Lewis of Pecatonica; grandchildren, Patty (Bill) Johnson of Byron and Billy (Heather) Lewis of Winnebago; great-grandchildren, Noah, Nathan, Chloe and Claire; and many special friends. Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, in All Saints Lutheran Church, 624 Luther Drive, Byron, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time; the Rev. Scott Schmidt will officiate.
