JUDITH A. BAUBY, 64 LOVES PARK - Judith A. Bauby, 64, of Loves Park went to eternal peace at 10:37 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, in SwedishAmerican Hospital, after a short battle with adrenal cancer. Born Sept. 13, 1947, in Rockford; the oldest child of Donald and Elenore (Molander) Fearn. She shared her dad's birthday and often said she was the best birthday gift he ever received. Judi attended Rockford schools and was a proud 1965 graduate of Auburn High School. She followed her dream and became an LPN, then a surgical scrub nurse. She started her career at SwedishAmerican Hospital and formed many life-long friendships with her co-workers. She worked at various hospitals in Ohio and the Chicago area before returning to Rockford and SwedishAmerican Hospital for the end of her career. Judi retired in 2006, and could often be found working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed listening to light classical music. Her favorite sunny weather day occupation was sitting on the patio reading a good book. Judi also greatly enjoyed her time at the Northeast YMCA, where she participated in water aerobics classes three times a week. She could be found the other days in the gym working on various machines. She was determined to stay mobile and to utilize her new knee. She often spoke of her core group of friends at the YMCA and how she missed them when her health caused her to quit her exercise routine. Judi was the proud grandmother of Stephen, Erin, Eleana and Gabriella. She kept everybody up to date on their many activities. She loved visiting Stephen, Erin and Eleana in Arizona during late winter. Survived by her husband of 18 years, Earl Don Bauby; daughter, Jamie (Mike) Deason and their children, Stephen, Erin and Eleana; son, Micah (Crystal) Rhude and his daughter, Gabriella Rhude; sister, Karen (Bruce) Jurgens and their children, Thyra (Ryan) Kiehl and Brian Jurgens; brother, Tom (Cindy) Fearn; nieces, Christina (Joe) Raddatz and Kelley (Wayne) Schoville; great-nephews, Peyton, Parker and Jackson; brother, David (Pam) Fearn and their children, Andrew, Charles and Elizabeth; and great-niece, Leah. Judi also has many surviving cousins; special aunt and uncle, Jack and Veda Fearn; special friends, Anthony and Sheri Brackett, Gary and Judy Anderson, and Ron and Polly Wallace. Predeceased by her parents; and the father of her children, Dennis Rhude. The family wishes to say a special thank you for the kind, compassionate care Judi received from Dr. Sarah Kent, Dr. Al Mardini, Dr. Schulz, Dr. Steffan, Dr. Edgcomb, and Dr. Schick. The family appreciates the care Judi received the past few weeks from the ER and OR staff at SwedishAmerican. They all went over and above the call of duty to ensure her comfort. We will be forever grateful to the Angels of Mercy on the seventh floor oncology wing for their compassionate, understanding, supportive, and loving care given to Judi over the last two weeks. Everyone from the housekeeper to the nurse manager on the seventh floor has our heartfelt thank you for everything you did for our wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Judi.
