STEVEN ARTHUR SCHIAVO, 59 ROCKFORD - Steven Arthur Schiavo, 59, of Rockford, who currently resided in Sarasota, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, after a car accident. Born July 11, 1953, in Rockford; son of Arthur and Lori Schiavo. Graduate of Guilford High School, Class of 1972. Married Patti Cruse-Schiavo on Oct. 23, 1976, in Rockford. Steve started his career as a pipe fitter for Local 23. In 1992, because of his passion for health and body fitness, he started his own successful business, Vitamins 'N More in Rockford. Steve enjoyed being outdoors, exercising, fishing with his grandchildren, boating, and going out with his friends. He will always be remembered by his warm smile, his constant laugh, his genuine personality, his love for family, and his love to socialize with everyone around him. Survived by wife, Patti of Florida; children, Jennifer (Matt) Moffitt of Florida and Andrew Schiavo of California; grandchildren, Katelyn, Luke and Aaron Moffitt of Florida; mother, Lori Schiavo of Rockford; brothers, Kevin (Debby) Schiavo and Curt (Kim) Schiavo and sister, Sue (Ron) Gwaltney, all of Rockford. Predeceased by father, Arthur Schiavo. Funeral at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Rockford First Church, with visitation from 3 p.m. to time of service. Luncheon immediately following at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the family.
