WALTER A. MAZUREK, 70 LOVES PARK - Walter A. "Wally" Mazurek, 70, of Loves Park died at 3:21 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born April 20, 1942, in Berwyn, son of Walter F. and Henrietta (Wieland) Mazurek. He married Sharon Koelling on July 30, 1966, in Crete. Wally began his career as a police officer, where he enjoyed his time on the Cicero and Wheaton Police Departments, then worked as a Xerox tech representative for 27 years. Member of New Life Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman, a member of the Beloit Gun Club, the YMCA Retired Men's Club, and a collector of guns, knives and cars. He loved time spent joking, laughing and playing cards with family and friends. Wally was a member of Blackhawk Chorale in Janesville, Wis., and had a long history of singing, acting and guitar playing. He is survived by wife, Sharon; children, Kurt (Julie) Mazurek of Eau Claire, Wis., and Craig Mazurek of Hayward, Wis.; granddaughter, Megan; sisters, Judy (John) Damusis, Sandy (Jim) Krecek and Francine (Ricardo) Covarrubias; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents. Special thanks to the nursing staff at SwedishAmerican Hospital, their New Life Church family and their Inverness neighbors. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at New Life Lutheran Church, 1100 N. Lyford Road, with Pastor Philip Henselin officiating. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery.
