PAUL K. THOMPSON, 80 MACHESNEY PARK - Paul K. Thomp-son, 80, of Machesney Park passed away Tuesday Jan. 1, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center, Rock-ford. Paul was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Kingsport, Tenn., the son of Woodrow and Tennessee Thompson. He married Vera I. Murphy on Aug. 30, 1952, and she died Jan. 4, 2012, after 59 years of marriage. Paul was retired after 43 years of service with Atwood Vacuum, he served in the Army during the Korean War from 1949 to 1953, where he received a Purple Heart. Survived by children, Paul K. Thompson Jr. (Ada) of Loves Park, Pattie Reuber (William) of Roscoe, Susan Foss (James) of Rice Lake, Wis., Donald Thompson of Florida; six grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; brothers, T. C. Thompson of Machesney Park and Robert Thompson of Beloit, Wis. Predeceased also by his parents and brother, Willie Thompson. Service to celebrate Paul's life at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service.
