ALPHONSE R. VON ROTZ, 81 ROCKFORD - Alphonse "Al" R. Von Rotz, 81, of Rockford, joined the choir of angels Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Presence St. Ann Center. He was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Fond du Lac, Wis., the son of Alfonse J. and Beatrice M. (Kilmer) Von Rotz. Al lived in Rockford since 1953, coming here from Fond du Lac. He married Mary Virginia "Ginger" Feuerstein on Feb. 14, 1953, in Beloit, Wis. She passed away Feb. 13, 2011, in Rockford. Al worked at Barnes Drill Co. for 25 years. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Al sang with the Svea Soner Chorus (an all male singing chorus) since 1966, and was a past president. Al loved to sing, and in addition to Svea Soner, he sang in the choirs at Bethesda Covenant Church, St. Rita Catholic Church, St. Edward Catholic Church and with the Classic Chorale. Survived by children, Richard A. (Cinda) Von Rotz of Memphis, Tenn., Diane M. (Robert) Kacvinsky of Lincoln, Neb., Thomas J. (Debra) Von Rotz and Susan M. (Philip) Morand, both of Rockford; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles (Jane) Von Rotz. Predeceased by wife of 58 years, Ginger; grandson, David Kacvinsky; and brothers, John and Donald. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive. with the Rev. David Peck officiating. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with rosary recited at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
