ROBERT RALSTON GREENLEE, 88 smiled at everyone he met ROCKFORD - Robert Ralston Greenlee, 88 of Rockford died at 5:51 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center, after a brief illness. Robert was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Donna, Texas, son of Clark and Mary (Ray) Greenlee. United in marriage to Phyllis Dever on June 5, 1949, in Rockford. Survived by his children, Daniel Clark (Linda) Greenlee of Washington, Ind., and D. David Greenlee of Rockford; grandchildren, Sarah (Steve), Andy (Ann), David- Clark (Jamie), Adam, Lindsay, Meghan, Alexis, Joshua, MacGregor; siblings, David Ray Greenlee and Marilyn Jean Jones, both of Prescott, Ariz. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis on July 5, 2002; infant daughter, Diane Marie; son, Dale Robert Greenlee on Dec. 30, 2012; brother-in-law, Ron Jones; and brother, David Ray Greenlee. Robert was formerly employed at the Swift Meat Packaging Plant, Prudential Insurance and as a School Bus Driver in District 205, where the kids knew him as Robert, then in recent years Robert's good friends called him "Captain Bob." He was a member at Heartland Community Church, where he served on the First Impressions Team. His big smile was a welcome greeting for all who came to weekend services. He was also involved in many small groups at Heartland. A Celebration of Robert's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Road, Rockford, with visitation from noon to time of services. Pastor Gordy Smith will officiate. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Rockford Rescue Mission.
