Edward Weber Obituary
EDWARD J. WEBER, 97 BYRON - Edward J. Weber, 97, died Monday, August 26, 2013, in Neighbors Rehabilitation Center in Byron. He was born on June 2, 1916, in LaMotte, IA; the son of Louis and Anna (Hingten) Weber. At the age of 16, Edward helped work on the Bellevue Lock and Dam #12 on the Mississippi River. He married Marcella Eggers in Bellevue, IA on November 10, 1941; she died in 1997. Edward was employed by Interstate Power Company as a heavy equipment operator for 47 years, retiring in 1979. He was an Army Veteran serving in World War II, was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Byron, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time Edward enjoyed hunting and fishing; especially enjoying his fishing trips to Canada. He is survived by his children, Ron (Mary) Weber of Byron and Betty (Jerry) Oliver of Winterset, IA; sister, Sally Cozine of Red Bud, IL; grandchildren, Susan Oliver, James Oliver, Lauren Nevins, Heidi Stenberg, and Christopher Weber; great-grandchildren, Malia, Kaiona, August, Anders, Alexia, Will, Samuel, and Elizabeth; and step-great-grandchildren, Emily and Julia. He is also predeceased by sisters, Alverta and Leona. Christian Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 220 E. 2nd St. in Byron, with Father Howard Barch officiating. Entombment will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, IA. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until prayers at 9:30 a.m. in the Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St. in Byron.
