Joan McHugh Obituary
JOAN M. MCHUGH, 82 BELVIDERE - Joan M. McHugh, 82, died peacefully on September 7, 2013, at Maple Crest Care Centre. Born on January 7, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Kramer. She married James P. McHugh on August 22, 1953; he died on March 17, 2007. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Tom Cosgrove; her nephew, John Cosgrove; and her great-grandson, Eli McHugh. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy McHugh of Chester, VA and Nancy (Kevin) Laga of Belvidere:, sons, Tim (Martie) of Minneapolis, MN, Chris of Eau Claire, WI and Terry (Jennifer Block) McHugh of Eau Claire, WI,; 19 grandchildren and their spouses; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Her family will miss her deeply. Joan was formerly employed by Dr. Robert Norris and the Orthopedic and Arthritis Clinic, but she was happiest when she was reading a great book, playing bridge with some of her many friends, playing the slot machines or watching her grandchildren's activities. She was also an active volunteer for many years for Provena St. Anne Center. The family would like to thank the staff at Maple Crest Care Centre for their loving and tender care while Joan lived there, and Dr. Farrion Williams for the compassionate medical care she received as his patient. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 12, at St. James Church, 535 Caswell St., Belvidere, IL, Fr. Brian Geary presiding. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, with rosary at 7:45 p.m. at Honquest Family Funeral Home, 4311 N. Mulford Road.
