F. JACK LAFEVER 94 ROCKFORD - F. Jack LaFever, 94, of Rockford, passed away surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter in Huntley on Saturday, September 21, 2013 following a long illness. He was born September 23, 1918 in Marinette, Wisconsin, the son of Ray F. and Stella (Girard) LaFever, Sr. He was a top-notch radar-man and sailed on the aircraft carrier, The Hancock, while serving in the United States Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Marion J. Wagner on October 23, 1939 in Marinette, Wisconsin. The couple made their home in Rockford and Jack worked in sales in the food industry. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rockford for 66 years, was active in the Knights of Columbus and had served a term as Grand Knight. He loved people and enjoyed sharing his many stories. Jack is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marion; his daughter, Karen (Deacon Louis) Farinella of Huntley; his grandchildren, Kristine (Andrew) Hahn, Michelle (Matthew) Krol, Jennifer (William) Tichenor and Nicole Farinella, his great-grandchildren; Allyson Hahn, Ethan, Aiden, Beckham, Liam & Griffin Krol, Luis, Mikayla, Nicolas and Evan Tichenor. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leslie (Dorothy) and Ray F. (Betty) LaFever. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 25th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Muldoon Council, Chapter #470, 1429 Myott Ave. Rockford, IL 61126.
