BILLIE H. 'DOC' CHANDLER, 71 MACHESNEY PARK - Billie H. "Doc" Chandler, 71, of Machesney Park went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014. Born Aug. 20, 1942, in Huntingdon, Tenn., the son of James and Lela M. (Hill) Chandler. Attended Harlem Schools. Veteran of the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Doc's Diner from 1991 to 2010, and formerly employed by Dean Foods for ten years. Member of the Lions Club. Avid Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Mark Martin. Doc enjoyed watching his granddaughter race at the Speedway and playing cards. Survivors include fiancée, Betty Martenson of Machesney Park and her children and grandchildren; his granddaughter, Deanna Chandler of Machesney Park; brother, Larry (Marylee) Chandler of Caledonia; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; son, Dustin; and brothers, Nathan, William and Glen. Service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
