Cris Haines, 94, of Richland Springs passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home. Graveside services are being held on Sunday, April 21, at Locker Cemetery in San Saba County officiated by Waymon Childress. Songs close to Cris's heart will be sung by Bill Slaymaker and Johnie Reeves.

Cris was born to Will and Rena Haines on May 17, 1918, in Lohn, Texas. He married Clarice Chapman on June 7, 1939. They had two daughters, Christine and Sue.
Cris had two occupations during his life. He farmed around the Sonora area then moved to
San Saba County in 1976 and farmed pecans but his real love was owning and training race horses.
Preceding Cris in death were his wife, Clarice; his parents, Will and Rena; a sister, Mildred Capps; an infant son, James; and one great-grandchild, Callie Rice.
Survivors include: daughters, Christine Anthony and husband, Wallace, and Sue Smith and husband, Bobby; Grandchildren, Judy Reneau and husband Tim; Janet Boatright, and Charlene Rice; great grandchildren, Katy Shanklin and husband, Asa; J'Lee Boatright and Brady Lynch; Tell Churchill, Cris Rice, Caylene Rice; Kirk Boatright and Jonna Boatright; and Haley Boatright; great great grandchildren, Bailey Rose Boatright Lynch, Saige Shanklin, Saige and Sadie Boatright; brothers, Billy Haines and wife, Gloria; and Charles Lee Haines and wife JoAnn.
