BENNINGTON - Cecile Rose Bourgeois Short, 95 of Bennington died Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.
She was born July 23, 1919, in Bennington, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Elise (Heppelle) Bourgeois. Cecile received her education in Bennington, where she attended Sacred Heart School.
She married Harry L. Short in 1940.
She was employed at Union Carbide Corp. in Bennington. After her retirement, she joined her husband in the family business, The Glass Shop in Manchester, where she was the bookkeeper.
Mrs. Short enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, crafts and knitting. She enjoyed playing golf and was the club champion at the Arlington Golf Course.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.
Survivors include her children, Jean Short of Bennington, Dianne Coonz of Sandwich, Mass., Bob Short of Bennington; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Patricia Woodward, and seven brothers and sisters, Edward Bourgeois, Helen Lampron, Yvonne Brunett, Eleanor Cahill, Rachel Kinney, Doris Bourgeois and Claire Smith.
At Mrs. Short's request there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Lions Club Hearing Fund through Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
