Barnes, Rudolph H.  
Rudolph H. Barnes, 51, of Rutland, died May 28, 2016, at his home. He was born November 14, 1964, in Rutland, the son of Rudolph and Nancy (Bowers) Holmquest. He was a graduate of Rutland High School, class of 1982. He enjoyed fishing and music. Mr. Barnes was a U.S. Air Force veteran with the 82nd Airborne serving in North Korea. He was a member of the Army Reserves. Surviving are two daughters, Samantha Barnes and Rachael Barnes of Rutland; a son, Troy Barnes of Rutland; a brother, Richard McGuiness of Rutland; and five grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph. Arrangements are by Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Barrett, Juanita U.  
HARTLAND - Juanita U. "Jay" Barrett , 87, of Hartland, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her daughter's home in Newport, R.I. She was born July 24, 1928, in Rutland, the daughter of Kermit R. and Anna (Horvath) Upton. She graduated from Rutland High School. She attended the Ray Vogue School of Advertising and Design in Chicago and graduated in 1950. She married Edward F. Barrett in 1951. They moved to White River Junction in 1955 and later to Hartland in 1962. After Mr. Barrett's retirement, she and her husband worked as volunteers in Texas, aiding in the care of abused and abandoned children and for 10 years. Mrs. Barrett volunteered with the Vermont Association of Court Diversion Programs, the Woodstock Red Cross and at David's House in Lebanon, N.H. She was a past member of the Woodstock Country Club and most recently an active member of the Ladies Bone Builders in Hartland. She attended the First Congregational Church in Hartland. Her husband, Edward Barrett, predeceased her March 16, 2006. She was also predeceased by her parents and one brother, Kermit R. Upton Jr. Survivors include children Keri B. LeBlanc of San Diego, Calif., Kevin J. Barrett of West Windsor, Jodi B. Keyes of Newport, R.I., and Joel M. Barrett of Bridgewater, Conn.; four grandchildren, one great-grandson; many nieces and nephews. There will be no formal service. Becker, Janet L.  
SPRINGFIELD - Janet L. Becker, 93, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Springfield, the daughter of Erwin and Lillian (Wetherell) Jacobs. She graduated from Springfield High School. She was married to Gerald Becker, who predeceased her. She worked as a clerk and secretary in automotive sales and repair, as well as being a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, walking and her flower gardens. She is survived by a son Terry Becker of Springfield, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister Jean Cross, two half-brothers and two half-sisters. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Oakland Cemetery in Springfield. The Rev. Gerry Piper will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are by Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Behan, John F.  
BENNINGTON - John Francis Behan, 71, of Bennington, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, following a long illness. He was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Bennington, the son of John and Catherine (Cronin) Behan. He was educated in Bennington, graduating in the class of 1963, and graduated from Champlain College with a degree in criminal justice. He married the former Anna Corcoran on Sept. 14, 1963. Mr. Behan was a police officer in Bennington for 32 years and a sheriff's deputy for 10 years. He was also a Bennington firefighter for 43 years and a justice of the peace. He enjoyed woodworking and creating furniture, including cradles for grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; his children Colleen Behan-Hattat, Shannon Behan, John Behan and Kathleen Winney; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; a sister, Barbara Galli; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Behan is predeceased by a granddaughter, Elli Winney; and brother, Thomas Behan. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington, followed at 10 a.m. by a memorial Mass at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Members of the law enforcement community are asked to meet at 3:55 p.m. and firefighters at 6: 15 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA and Hospice, 1128 Monument Ave., Bennington, VT 05201; or the Vermont First Responders Memorial Fund, RR 2, Box 2160, Pittsford, VT 05763.

Bessette Sr., Raymond J.  
ARGYLE, NY - Raymond John Bessette Sr., 89, died Saturday afternoon June 18, 2016, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 19, 1927, in Montreal, Canada, the son of Philias and Angelina (Bouchard) Bessette. Raymond was a graduate of Bridgewater High School, Bridgewater, MA., class of 1948. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in WW II. Raymond was a member of the Granville, NY, American Legion and the Roofers Association. He was well known in the Hartford, CT, area for his roofing and also his custom designed pools. Raymond enjoyed horseshoes, playing pool, spending time with his family and enjoying a cold beer. He is survived by his children Margaret Bessette, of NH, Lawrence "Larry" Bessette of MO, Clare Jameson of NY, Carol Bessette of NC, Raymond John Bessette Jr. of MA, Connie Bessette of RI, Cindy Bessette of FL, Kathy Guest of SC, Christine Bessette and Tamara Bessette, both of VT. Also by his sister, Rita Lacourture of MA; and his 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Mark Bessette, in December of 1991; and his siblings, Roger, George and Gaston Bessette, Fern Piche and Frances Cobb. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, at 266 Allen Ave., Poultney, VT 05764. The Rev. Daniel Jordon will officiate. Visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Raphael Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home.

Boardman, Franceis A.  
SOUTH PASADENA, Fla. - Franceis A. "Frankie" Boardman, 88, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay in South Pasadena, Florida, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Westfield, in 1927, the daughter of Iliff Benware and Theda Woodcock. She was a graduate of Rutland High School. Franceis married LeRoy Boardman in Rochester, on Nov. 12, 1949. He passed away in 2010. Together they ran Boardman Sales and Service in Fair Haven until retirement in 1986 to Spring Hill, Florida. Franceis was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Rutland and in Fair Haven. She is survived by her two sons, Leslie Boardman of Saint Petersburg, Florida, and Lee Boardman of Newmarket, New Hampshire. Burial with her husband LeRoy will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Rochester at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated. Arrangements are being made by Holloway Funeral Home in Oldsmar, Florida.

SPRINGFIELD - Flora A. Bowley, 92, passed away May 22, 2016, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 27, 1923, in Newport, the daughter of Gerald and Nellie (Holmes) Potwin, and she attended schools in Woodstock. Ms. Bowley was employed at the Goodyear Rubber Plant in Windsor for 25 years. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Patterson of Springfield, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one grandson. The graveside committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 26, in Grout Cemetery in Perkinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Humane Society, 401 Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, VT 05156. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
