Esther May Sheldon

LUDLOW - The graveside committal service and interment for Esther May Sheldon, 91, who died Jan. 31, 2014, will be held at noon Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Cavendish Village Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Amsden, the daughter of Alfred and Nellie (Chambers) Walker.

She received her early education in Ira and was married Aug. 27,1939, to Merritt Sheldon in Ludlow. She lived in the Rutland and Ludlow area all her life. Beside being a homemaker, Esther had worked for many years as a Cook for area restaurants and nursing homes. Esther was a member and past president of the Ballard- Hobart American Legion Auxiliary Post 36, Ludlow. She was also member of Tyson Congregational Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Frye, and her husband, Albert Frye Sr., of Ludlow; her sister, Beverly Coote of Wallingford; and eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her son, Vernon Dwain Sheldon Sr., who died April 6, 2007; her daughter, Barbara M. Sheldon, who died in 1944; and her two brothers, Lester Walker and Alfred "Tink" Walker.

Arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ludlow.
