Genevieve G. DuBray

Mrs. Genevieve (Jean) DuBray, 95, died Wednesday, the 8th of January 2014, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. A private graveside service will be held at the Green Hill Cemetery in Wallingford, at the convenience of the family. At the request of Genevieve, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

She was born in Wallingford, VT, April 11, 1918, daughter of Harold and Beatrice (Clark) Goodell. She was a graduate of Wallingford High School, Class of 1935. She also graduated from Moler Beauty School in Chicago, IL, in 1936.

She owned the Kut n' Kurl Shop, and worked as a beautician in Rutland for over 50 years, retiring in 1985. She retired and lived at her favorite spot on Lake Bomoseen. The past 8 years, she resided at The Meadows in Rutland.

Jean enjoyed golf and was a member of Prospect Bay Country Club for many years, and also participated in the Senior Golf League at the Rutland Country Club. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #50 at Bomoseen, and a member of the Castleton Community Center (The Old Homestead). She was a member of the Congregational Church in Wallingford.

Jean was married to Hayden H. DuBray, April 15, 1943, and shared her life with him for 47 very happy years. He predeceased her in 1981. She was also predeceased by a brother, Clark E. Goodell Sr., in 2004.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda DuBray LaPerle and her husband, Claude S. LaPerle of Bomoseen; a granddaughter, Krista Marie DuBray LaPerle, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVP, who lives in Columbus, Ohio, and is on faculty at Ohio State University, and also employed by The James Cancer Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunshine Fund, c/o The Meadows, 157 Heritage Hill Place, Rutland, VT 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
