BENNINGTON - Gertrude L. Bishop, 91, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Vermont Veterans Home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1922, in North Bennington, the daughter of George W. and Eva (Dragon) Senecal.
She received her education in the Bennington schools.
She married Amos Bishop Jr., Aug. 11, 1948, in Bennington. He died in December 1984.
In earlier years, she was employed at the E.Z. Mill, Simson Corp. and the former Union Carbide, all in Bennington.
Survivors include three daughters, Debra Davenport of Pownal, Sylvia Jordan of Florida and Loraine Strohmaier of Bennington; three sons, Bruce Bishop of Bennington, Edward Legacy of Shaftsbury, and James Legacy of Pennsylvania; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Eileen Bishop; a son, George Legacy; a grandson, Henry Strohmaier Jr.; and two sisters, Clara Parker and Bessy Sausville. She was also predeceased by her step-mother, Loraine Senecal, who raised her from early childhood.
At her request, there will be no services.
Burial will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery.
