Grace E. Baker

TAFTSVILLE - Grace Edna Washburn Baker, 95, died July 30, 2009, at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.

She was born April 28, 1914, in Pomfret, the daughter of Albert and Etta (Bates) George. She attended Pomfret Elementary School and Woodstock High School.

She married Peter Baker on Jan. 19, 1952. She worked for the Town and Country Clothing Store in Woodstock and Hanover, N.H., for more than 30 years. In 1956 she and her husband moved to Taftsville, where they made their home for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her son, Bruce G. Washburn of Royalton and St. Simons Island, Ga.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband on Feb. 12, 2006, two brothers, Albert "Stub" George and Barry George, and three sisters, Alice Washburn, Irene Stimpson, and Phyllis Badger.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, in the Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock. The Rev. Beverly Anderson will officiate. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the , 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
