Horatio E. Weaver

IRA - Horatio Eugene "Sonny" Weaver passed away in the arms of his loved ones on Sunday morning, February 10, 2013, at age 63.

He was born the only son of Horatio and Rita (Lanfear) Weaver on March 30, 1949.

He attended Ira Central's one-room schoolhouse and graduated from West Rutland High School in 1967.

He was a loving, gentle husband and devoted father. He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Kelley), whom he married on July 10, 1971; his daughter, Kelly, son Horatio III and Heather; his sisters, Regina Buffum, Nancy Manning, Louise Frazier and husband Dan, Bonnie Mylott and husband David; brother-in-law John Kelley and wife Sue, sister-in-law Darlene Delancy; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Joan Hunter and Faith Houle.

Horatio was an incredibly hard worker, having been a self-employed logger most of his life and maple sugar producer. He loved being in the woods. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, reading, sports, bird watching and spending time with his family and cats.

He was a justice of the peace and active in the town of Ira holding several different offices. He was a director in the Rutland County Maple Producers and a member of the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers Association.

There will be a celebration of his life at the Italian American Club on Grove Street in Rutland, on Saturday, February 16, 2013, from 1 to 5 p.m. Donations may be made to Foley Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center, on his behalf.
