PROCTORSVILLE - James Edward Sherer, 68, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Nashua, N.H., March 3, 1945, the son of Elva Sherer.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1963.
A Vietnam War
veteran, Mr. Sherer served in the U.S. Marine Corps
from 1963 to 1967.
He was employed as a lineman for Ludlow Electric Co. and retired from Sturm Ruger.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Claremont, N.H., and the VFW
Survivors include his wife, Janet Adams Harvie Sherer, whom he married in 2006; four children, Christopher Sherer of Wilmington, N.C., David and Scott Sherer of Ludlow and Victoria Feenstra of Ashland, Mass.; three siblings, Mary Springer, Robert Gallant, both of Reading, and Gary Sherer of Guilford; a stepson, Curtis Harvie of Proctorsville, and stepdaughter, Renee Harvie of Coventry, R.I.; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Claremont, followed by a reception in the church parish hall.
Burial with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, in Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.
