Johanna Durand

LANSING, MI. - Johanna "Jay" Durand, 66, of Lansing, Mich., passed away on June 19, 2014, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Jay was born in Springfield, Vt., on Aug. 17, 1947. She grew up in Detroit, Mich., graduating from St. Francis De Sales High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Social Science from Michigan State University.

During her time as a student intern at the House of Representatives, Jay won the Daniel Rosenthal Legislative Intern Award 1979-80.

Jay worked at the State of Michigan Library. She enjoyed genealogy, politics, playing cards and visiting with friends.

Jay is survived by her daughter Rachel Durand Rumsey of Grand Ledge, Mich.; two sons, Brian Durand of Tecumseh, Ontario, and Richard Durand of Englewood, Fla.; sister Maryellen Parker of Naples, Fla. and brother Mark Scofield of the Philippines; close cousin and friend Sylvia Scofield Dunn of Springfield, Vt.; and grandchildren Christopher, Brooke, Brandon and Lauren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Josephine Blake & Edward Maxwell Scofield of Springfield.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan for their kind support in her final days.
