John P. Power

John "Jack" P. Power, 81, of Rutland and Pittsfield died Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

He was born in East Orange, NJ, November 12, 1931, the son of Nicholas M. and Evelyn (Hedges) Power.

He was a graduate of Whitcomb High School in Bethel, VT, and attended Castleton State College.

Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired as a MSgt. in 1971.

He was the owner and operator of the Pittsfield General Store in Pittsfield, until 1986. Jack also operated Power Dental Lab for many years.

Mr. Power was a Classical Violinist, playing with various symphonies and local theaters, was a lifelong Red Sox fan, and an avid table tennis player.

He is survived by his wife, Brigitte (Bloecks) Power of Rutland; his daughters, Vera B. Power of Rutland, Carleen D. Daniels of Warrensburg, NY, and Audrey Archer and her husband, Mark of Wallingford; and his son Steven J. Power of Rangeley, Maine; as well as his grandchildren, Nick Isaacson, Kirsten Newton, Colby Power and Daniel Power; and great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to the family home, Sunday, October 20, 2013, at 6 Avenue B in Rutland, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
