Kenneth E. Lawrence

RUTLAND TOWN - Kenneth "Ken" Edward Lawrence, 78, of Rutland Town passed away February 13, 2013, after a brief illness.

Ken was born on June 3,1934, in Rochester, VT, to Elbert and Hazel (Calkins) Lawrence.

Ken served with the Vermont Army National Guard from 1956-1963.

Ken worked for many years at Mintzer Bros. Building Materials in Rutland, VT, and upon his retirement from there, continued to work as a mail courier for Overland Mail Co. of Chittenden, VT, and also for Teenie Tiny Poultry Farm in Chittenden, owned by longtime friends Bob and Teenie Bearor. He helped with farm duties and special events held there, such as the annual fishing derbies for seniors and children.

Ken enjoyed the occasional walk in the woods to do a little hunting, and also enjoyed spending quality time with his numerous friends and with his Godchildren and their families.

He was a remarkable man and will be missed dearly.

Ken is survived by his loving Godchildren: Alice Bell and fiance' Nathan Obara and their son, affectionately called "Hunner" by Ken, all of North Clarendon, VT; Elizabeth Ayer and husband Augustus Ayer and their children, Brian, Amy, Warren and Amber of Ludlow, VT; and Charles Euber and wife Sienna Euber and their children, Victoria, Tom and Tara of Poultney, VT.

He is also survived by a sister, Roberta Wortman of Rutland, VT, and two brothers, Leo Lawrence and his wife Helen of Rutland, VT, and Ernest Lawrence of Randolph, VT.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, a sister Helen Seward, and two brothers Cecil and Donald.

There will be no calling hours, and gathering for family and friends will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.
