Madge Eddy Boardman, 95, died September 26, 2012, at Rutland Hospital.
Madge was the first-born daughter of Jennette and Eugene Eddy of Shoreham. She was predeceased by Fred M. Eddy of Bethel, and is survived by Jane E. Hutchinson of Queensbury, N.Y.
Madge devoted most of her life to child education. She attended Middlebury and was graduated from Boston University. She was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Saint Joseph College of Rutland.
Madge started her work in a one-room schoolhouse in Tunbridge. She then joined the Vermont State Education Department and later became Director of Curriculum Coordination for the State. She was responsible for creation of a statewide study program applicable to all primary schools in the State. She visited all school districts in the State to determine the efficacy of the program.
After retirement she served on the governor's committee to create a program of registration for Vermont's elderly population to describe accurately their current legal residence for use by the 911 Rescue Response Teams.
At Madge's request, there will be no calling hours or public burial. She wishes all her friends and associates a fare thee well.
