Muriel E. Clarke

PITTSFORD - Muriel E. Clarke, 90, died Monday, October 8, 2012, at Rutland Health Care Center, with family at her side.

She was born in Norwalk, Conn., on October 13, 1921, the daughter of Leslie and Gladys (Frank) Withnell.

Muriel was a longtime member of the Brandon United Methodist Church.

She was an avid gardener and an avid fan of Boston sports but most of all, the Boston Red Sox.

She was a strong supporter of U.S. veterans and the Lakota Indians but most of all, she was a loving and caring mother.

She is survived by her children, Myron "Mike" Clarke, Lynne Wortman and Gerry Clarke, all of Pittsford; grandson Martin Syvertson and Danielle Folk and great-granddaughter Larissa; grandson Michael Syvertson and his wife Angela and great-grandchildren Mallory, Zachary and Annabelle.

She was predeceased by her husband, Myron S. Clarke, in 1996 and two brothers, Leslie Jr. and Charles Withnell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Kathleen Bevan, pastor of the Brandon United Methodist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Muriel's name may be made to DAV Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
