Rita J. Reyes

LONDONDERRY - Rita J. Reyes, 91, our dearly beloved mother, went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2012. She was born in Harlem, New York, on December 10, 1920. Early on, she exhibited a love of art. At Hunter College, she pursued her art talent. She met and married the love of her life, Albert J. Reyes, and soon after, they moved to Burlington, Vermont, to seek a better life for their family. Rita was instrumental in the formation and growth of the Al Reyes Insurance Agency, along with her husband, Al Reyes. Together, they made a life of hard work, self pioneering, raising their family and giving to others, in particular, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. She lived her life in an exemplary fashion, working hard, giving to others and with real concern and love for all members of her family.

Rita leaves behind four daughters, Maria Reyes of Bennington, Vermont, Christine and Rick Estey of Bristol, Vermont, Rita and Louie Masso and Barbara Hamel, all of South Burlington, Vermont; her grandchildren, Derek Estey, Michelle Masso, Elena Masso and spouse Dr. Eric Makvandi, Stacey and spouse Jim Jorschick, Jennifer and spouse Brent Graham; and great-grandchildren, Suzannah, Charlotte and Matthew Graham and Ella Makvandi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Reyes; her brother, Otto William Keller; and her son-in-law, Maurice Hamel.

A memorial Mass at St. Joseph's Chapel in Londonderry, Vermont, will be celebrated Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held following the service at the Second Congregational Church in Londonderry, Vermont.
