LUDLOW - Sandra B. VanGuilder, age 54, passed away at her home on Dec. 27, 2012, following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Sandee was born on Aug. 11, 1958, in Springfield, VT, the daughter of Lucille and James "Red" Bowker of Ludlow.
Sandee was a longtime employee of Grand Union in Ludlow for many years, and most recently as a homecare provider for Mike, who is considered part of the family.
Sandee greatly enjoyed family gatherings, as well as fishing. She was a great cook and was well known for her elaborate Christmas goody platters. She also liked feeding wild birds and cherished her many animals, especially her beloved dogs J.D. and Jake, as well as her three cats Pounce, Tessie and Jager.
She married her husband of 21 years, David VanGuilder, on Oct. 19, 1991. Sandee's greatest joy is her son Jarrod O.
Sandee was predeceased by her parents, James and Lucille Bowker as well as a brother, Michael. She is survived by her husband David, son Jarrod and his wife Tia, all of Ludlow. Survivors also include her sisters Debra Bowker of Mesa, AZ, Cheryl Wendt and husband Mike of Phoenix, AZ, Denise VanGuilder and husband Danny of Ludlow, and Donna Lee and husband Richard, of Belmont, VT. She also leaves behind several loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per Sandee's wishes, there will be a celebration of her life at her home at 141 O'Connor Hill in Ludlow on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 4 p.m.
