Sigismund S. Wysolmerski

Sigismund S. Wysolmerski, DDS, 92, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2013, at The Pines in Rutland.

He was born in Florence, Vermont, on October 28, 1921, son of John J. and Rose (Sasinowski) Wysolmerski.

He was a graduate of West Rutland High School, and was a member of the varsity tennis team.

After attending UVM, he was a graduate of Georgetown University Dental School.

He was commissioned in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp., and was stationed in China with the First Marine Air Wing.

Dr. Wysolmerski returned to Rutland, where he practiced dentistry for over 60 years.

In June of 1952, he married Jane L. Wasik at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. It was shortly thereafter that they built his beloved cottage rental business at Lake St. Catherine. He cherished all of his time at "The Lake," enjoyed all the work it involved, but more than anything, he loved socializing and telling his stories to family and guests.

"Doc" was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, and very active in the community. He was a member of: St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Christ the King Parish Council, 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus, West Rutland American Legion, Eagles Club, Elks Club, The Holy Name Society, and a founding member of the Rutland Kiwanis Club. He served on the Catholic Tribune Board and also served as president and trustee of the Lake St. Catherine Association.

Surviving is a daughter, Jane J. Wysolmerski and three sons, Sigismund J.A. Wysolmerski, Esq., his wife, Kate M. Wysolmerski and their son, Dominic Wysolmerski of Rutland, Dr. Robert B. Wysolmerski and his wife, Dr. Zoe M. Goeckeler of Morgantown, West Virginia, Dr. John J. Wysolmerski, his wife, Caroline G. Hendel, Esq. and their sons, Michael and Brian Wysolmerski of New Haven, Connecticut; two sisters, Jane S. Wysolmerski of Rutland, and Sister Theresa Wysolmerski, CSJ of Latham, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife, Jane; and three siblings, Joseph Wysolmerski, Charlotte Rostkowski and the Rev. Benjamin Wysolmerski.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland.

Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland on Friday, Nov. 15, from 3 to 7 p.m.
