Alba Willenbring Obituary
She was born May 7, 1919, in New Rochelle, N.Y., the daughter of Rose and Anthony Vaccaro.
She joined an acapella choir during high school.
After graduation, she worked in defense plants during World War II, following the inspiration of Rosie the Riveter, the iconic poster girl for women working to support the U.S. war effort.
She married Eugene Willenbring near the end of the war, and they eventually settled in Ridgefield, Conn. They retired to Manchester.
She enjoyed singing, cooking and animals.
Survivors include her children: Barry Willenbring of Somerset, Mass.; Brian Willenbring of Southbury, Conn.; Bruce Willenbring of Clifton Falls, Va.; Brad Willenbring and Beth Welton, both of Manchester Center; and Blair Willenbring of Bennington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene, in 2007, and by her four siblings: Cary, Laura, Celie and Charlie.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at All Faith Chapel at Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to an animal shelter, or to the Vermont Veterans Home Activities Fund, in care of Brewster-Shea Funeral Home, PO Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255.

My sincere condolences to the Willenbrings on Bobby's passing. She was a strong, kind, feisty woman whose formula for meatballs resides in the front of my recipe box.

Bob and I remember her no-nonsense but caring approach to being the mother of each of you. We, too, treasure the tales of saved bread bags because they remind us of our folks, too. Bobbie's in our prayers.
