Philip Jarrosiak Obituary

QUEENSBURY - Philip W. Jarrosiak, "Phil," 73, of Queensbury, New York, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Glens Falls Hospital, with his devoted wife of 52 years, Sandy, by his side.

Born January 29, 1940, in Lyndonville, Vermont, he was the son of Alex and Virginia (Norris) Jarrosak.

Phil graduated from West Rutland High School in 1958, and continued his education at Castleton College, Vermont, where he graduated in 1969.

He was employed by General Electric from 1960, until he retired in 1995. His work in human resources took him and the family from Vermont to Florida to Indiana to Ohio and Connecticut, and then to New York, where he retired in Queensbury. Until 2013, he was self-employed as a human resources consultant.

Phil and Sandy married June 10, 1961, in Rutland, Vermont.

Phil led a full and active life, playing football, baseball, and basketball in high school. He excelled at all. He later went on to play softball, and a mean game of tennis. His favorite by far was golf...and then more golf. He enjoyed watching "Jeopardy." He also enjoyed torturing himself and everyone around him watching college basketball, Ohio State and Clemson football, the Dallas Cowboys, and of course the Red Sox...go Red Sox.

He enjoyed spending many winters in Palm Springs, California, where he could continue to play golf year-round. Phil made many friends in his time spent in California, and wherever he lived or traveled. Some of his best friends and best times were made here in Queensbury, many at O'Tooles, where he shared a beer with them (or maybe two). Phil loved to laugh ‘til it hurt. He will be loved forever and missed by all that had the honor of having him in their lives.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his father- and mother-in-law, Bernard and Eileen Reilly; his brother, Richard; his uncle Peter, uncle Paul Wehren, and his beloved uncle, Joe; his aunt Mary Visi, aunt Shirley, aunt Irene Allard, and aunt Barbara. He is also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Lynne Jarrosiak.

Along with wife, Sandy, Phil is survived by four sons: Phil and his wife, Anne of Avon, Ct., Mark and his wife, Kim of Grover Beach, Calif., Paul of Santa Margarita, Calif., and John and his wife, Joline of Glendora, Calif. He is also survived by three daughters, Sue Rolapp and her husband, Tom of Pismo Beach, Calif., Tania and her partner, Elkin Gomez of Granby, Ct., and Lara of Windsor Locks, Ct. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Derek, Jade, Jessica, Holland, John, Dylan, William, Tyler, Ashni and Caden. He is survived by his sister, Sandy Beck; his brother, Ed Jarrosak and his wife, Alana; and his sister, Carol Fisher and her husband, Kermit. He is also survived by his uncle, John Jarrosak, uncle William Jarrosak, uncle Harold Allard; and his aunt Julia Wehren. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the nursing staff at Glens Falls Hospital for their help and the care given to Phil during his brief stay. A special thank you to Charli.

The family would like to invite you to a celebration of Phil's life, Monday, November 11, starting with calling hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, NY.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Friends and family are invited to continue the celebration at O'Tooles, 118 Quaker Road, Queensbury, New York.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Ronald McDonald House, 139 S. Lake Ave., Albany, NY 12208, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Jarrosiak's, Sorry to hear about daddy Phil. Brother Jeff and I have wonderful childhood memories of hanging out with Phil Jr and Mark and the rest of the Jarrosiak clan up on the hill in Rolling Ridge north of Shelbyville. Thanks to big Phil and our dad, Max for taking all us rugrats to the Reds game down in Cincinatti during the Big Red Machine years. I know we all were more than a handful. Great memories. Not goodbye, but, see ya later. Sincerely Jeff and Doug Branson, from Shelbyville

Dear Sandy and family - Special thoughts and prayers for all of you. Years pass; memories remain. Phil spent a lot of time at my folks' store in West Rutland and made many friends. As he wrote on a card for my mother's memorial service in 1991: "With fond memories and deep regret".

Dear Sandy and family
Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time. Phil was a classmate and friend of the family. We all lived on the hill. He was at our house a lot with my brothers. Always stopped when he was back home. I am sure you have many happy memories, GOD keep you strong.

Sandy & Family,
I was deeply saddened by the news that Phil had passed. He was a great guy, and I really enjoyed playing golf with him. He will be missed.

I'll always think of him as "Uncle Phil," even though he was technically my cousin. He had a joie de vivre that I always adored. So many memories of Phil and Sonny and all the "kids" coming to our little farm in Sutton, two huge families who rarely got to see each other but always had a blast when we did. Happy to have had one last, albeit short, visit with Phil and Mark in Palm Springs last year, where he teased the waitress, hugged the bartender, called me Brendy (the only one I'll let get away with that), and of course, picked up the tab. Classic Phil. Rest in Peace.

Sandy and Family
Phil was special as you know. He took me under his wing early in my career at GE and we continued this mentor/mentee relationship up until recently.

I will miss his zest for life, the knowledge he freely shared and his company on those occasion we were together whether a golf outing or a work project.

You have my prayers at this time. May God bless you all.

You can see him in each of his children and hear him in their laughter. We are blessed to have the chance to have spent time with him and the Jarrosiak family. We will continue to pray for him and for your family

Sincerest condolences to Sandy and your family. I'll never forget Phil and Mark coming to our rescue in Palm Springs when we were confronted by a group of young men outside the restaurant we'd all just had lunch in. Gallant as ever. Sending healing thoughts your way.

My deepest condolences for your loss. I worked with Phil at GE on Plainville, CT years ago. He was funny and generous and ahead of his time in HR, and taught me so much of what I know now about the field. I've appreciated the time he spent teaching me when I was a young intern with the company, and I truly appreciated his sense of humor and love for life. I've thought of him many times throughout much of my career, and attribute much of what I know now to him. I'm so sorry for your loss.
