SOUTH POULTNEY - Alice M. Botsford, 92, of South Poultney, died Monday morning, Feb. 26, 2018, at The Pines at Rutland.
She was born on March 22, 1925, in Poultney, the daughter of Walter Craft and Alta Bessie (Taggart) McIntyre.
Mrs. Botsford grew up in East Poultney on the family farm, graduating from the Poultney High School in 1944.
She married George T. Botsford on Sept. 15, 1946. They lived in South Poultney prior to relocating to Connecticut, then Oklahoma prior to returning to South Poultney in 1991.
Mrs. Botsford was a longtime Avon Representative and Toy Party Demonstrator.
She enjoyed nature, walking, reading her Bible, as well as building rock gardens and flower gardens.
Survivors include two daughters Judy Hatch and Janet Alarcon, both of Oklahoma; two grandsons Shawn Botsford, of South Poultney (whom she raised and had been her caregiver) and Ryan Burkitt; a granddaughter, Bridget Slone; two sisters Gladys Seamans, of East Poultney, and Helen Hayes, of Gouverneur, New York; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Botsford, who died on Nov. 18, 2008; also by three sisters Margie Jones in 2013, Lillian Mead in 2011 and Cecly White in 2012; three brothers Richard McIntyre in 2009, Walter McIntyre in 2010 and Dayton McIntyre in 2007.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven, VT.
There will be no funeral service.
Graveside services will be at a later date in the Poultney Cemetery.
