LONDONDERRY - Brenda E. (Derby) Alexander, 82, of Londonderry, Vermont, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Andover, Vermont, on July 17, 1929, daughter of Harry and Gladys (Horton) Derby. Her husband of 29 years, Huzon Alexander, died in 1977, and her companion of 18 years, Andy Patch, predeceased her.
Brenda worked as a housekeeper in several area homes. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, camping, gardening and her family. She was known for making the best homemade baked beans and donuts.
Survivors include a son, Grant Alexander of Londonderry; four daughters, Sharron Kendrick and her husband Lonnie of Londonderry, Kathy Smith and her husband Ron of North Springfield, Carol Dryden and her husband Louis and Wanda Kimball and her husband Randy, all of South Londonderry; a sister, Ruby Bendig of South Londonderry; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-step-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two great-grandsons, Kody Smith and Payton Dryden; and by her three brothers, Lester, Fred and Winston Derby; and by her sister, Lottie Rautio.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Londonderry Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Glebeview Cemetery in South Londonderry. There are no visiting hours.
