POULTNEY - Carolyn Jane Kinney 74, died Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 8, 1939, in Rutland, the daughter of the late John and Felicia (Glodzik) Taran.

Carolyn was a graduate of Poultney High School, Castleton State College, and The University of South Carolina.

Carolyn was a military wife and also a former school teacher, and previously was the town lister for Poultney.

She was a member of St. Raphael's the Arch Angel Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Poultney American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed reading, collecting foreign souvenirs, and weekend travel with her sisters. She was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, which were her pride and joy.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 51 years, Francis A. Kinney; by her children, Francis J. Kinney, Sandra A. Langley, Patricia L. Powell and husband Mark, and Alan D. Kinney; by her grandchildren, Bryant P. Langley, Felicia B. Powell and Eric J. Kinney; by her siblings, Mary McManus, Irene Kelley, Dolores and Fred Carter, Florence and Joe Williams, Diane Baker and the late Charles Baker, and Joanie and Steve Maslack.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, John Taran.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home, 266 Allen Avenue, Poultney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at St. Raphael's the Arch Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Jordan as the celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Raphael's Cemetery.
