BRIDGEWATER CORNERS - Carroll F. Earle, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Cedar Hill Health Care in Windsor.

He was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Bridgewater, the son of Clifford N. and Vera (Furman) Earle.

He was a veteran of U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

He had a number of jobs locally, including driving a school bus, delivering sawdust, working for Putnam Construction, delivering mail for the Postal Service and being a dairy farmer.

He enjoyed being a sugar maker. He also enjoyed skiing, skating, roller skating, the Red Sox and dancing.

In 2002, he was named Bridgewater's Citizen of the Year.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Doris (Billings) Earle; his five children: Linda Scott-Andrews, Debora Oldenburg, Tammi Earle, Edwin P. Earle, and Carolsue Hannabury; 14 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert Earle.

He was predeceased by four siblings: Florence Frost, Nadia Geno, Earnest Earle, and Marilyn Blodgett; and a grandson, Mark G. Earle.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Mennonite Church in Bridgewater Corners. Burial will follow in the Topliff Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday, Nov. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, where arrangements are being handled.
