Claire M. Fouracre, 71, of Rutland died unexpectedly Thursday morning, October 11, 2012, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 23, 1941, in Rutland, the daughter of Stanley R. Sr. and Gunhild (Dahlin) Whittemore.

Mrs. Fouracre graduated from Rutland High School in 1959.

She married Sumner J. Fouracre on Nov. 4, 1960.

Mrs. Fouracre was employed by the Rutland Hospital, and then by Metromail for 27 years until her retirement in 2006.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Fouracre enjoyed traveling, country music, and was a huge fan of Alan Jackson and Elvis.

Survivors include her husband, Sumner Fouracre, two daughters, Debbie Thayer and Rhonda Fouracre, three sons, James Fouracre, Jeff Fouracre and Christopher Fouracre, all of Rutland; two brothers, Gary Whittemore of Rutland and Stanley Whittemore of Burlington; two grandsons, Joshua Thayer and Mathew Thayer; a great-granddaughter, Makaeleigh Thayer; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Aldous Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the Aldous Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
