GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Donald H. Viger, 68, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Glens Falls Hospital, due to esophageal cancer.

He was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Glens Falls, the son of Leo and Helen (Benson) Viger.
He graduated from Granville Central School in 1962 and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D., where he married Hilda R. Odom Feb. 8, 1964.
Mr. Viger retired from St. Gobain Plastics in Granville after 30 years of employment.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church of Granville and served on the American Legion Post #323 of Granville Honor Guard.
He enjoyed music and performing with his band, "The Other Half," in earlier years. He also enjoyed woodworking, magic, leather crafts, and fishing, and was known for his paintings on saw blades.
Survivors include his wife of Granville; three daughters, Terri Boisclair, Tammy Rathbun, both of Granville, and Mona Lenz of Starksboro, Vt.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Raymond Viger of Granville, Alfred Viger of Schuylerville, Tom Vischer of Glens Falls and Steve Viger of Melbourne, Fla.; three sisters, Carolee Sipowicz of Saratoga Springs, Leigh Hendy and Dale Masten of Melbourne, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct, 5, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Bulkley Avenue, Granville, with the Rev. Thomas Zelker officiating, and will be followed by full military honors provided by the American Legion at the church and then a reception at Post #323, Columbus Street, Granville.
