CHESTER - Donald R. Farrar, 87, died Monday, January 7, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction, Vt.

He was born April 23, 1925, in Chester, Vt., to the late Adelia (Foster) and Raymond Farrar.

He grew up in Chester, one of seven children.

Mr. Farrar married Helen M. Stowell on March 13, 1946. She predeceased him on September 28, 2012. They purchased and resided at Crow Hill Farm in Chester for 66 years.

He was an accomplished farmer, and also retired from Jones & Lamson.

He is survived by four children: two daughters, Linda F. and her husband Dennis Keaten Sr. of Fryeburg, Maine, and Susan A. and her husband Kenny B. Crocker of Juneau, Alaska; two sons, Michael E. and his wife Linda, and Alan R. and his wife Kimberly, all of Chester; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister Joyce Houle, and a brother Stanley Farrar.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Doris Farrar, Arlene Randall, Geraldine Kenworthy, and one brother, Arthur Farrar.

At his request, there will be no service.
