Doris Gergely, 92, of Rutland died Monday, August 26, 2013, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH.

She was born in Bridgeport, CT, January 3, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Olive (Smart) Blydenburg.

Doris was a 1938 graduate of Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT, and a 1941 graduate of Blair School of Cosmetology.

She was a resident of Stratford, CT, before moving to Rutland, VT, in 1999.

Doris was employed as a senior government coordinator at S. Korsky Aircraft Base in Stratford, CT, for 27 years.

She was a Red Sox fan and enjoyed bowling and needlepoint. She will always be remembered for her spunk, honest answers and huge heart.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Remington and her husband Fred of Rutland; two sons, Russell Gergely of Chester Heights, PA, and Jeffrey Gergely of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren: Courtney, Stephen, Bridgette and her husband Kirk, Karen and her husband Joe, Michelle and her husband Matt; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Stephen Gergely, who died in 1988, and by a brother Charles T. Blydenburg.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, August 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Another visiting hour will be held Wednesday, September 4, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral Home in Stratford, CT.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 12 noon at Lordship Community Church in Stratford, CT.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Stratford, CT.
