NORTH CHITTENDEN - Edward "Mark" Cassidy, 62, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Rutland Oct. 7, 1949, the son of Edward and Irene (Burke) Cassidy.
He graduated from Rutland High School in 1969 and St. Joseph College in Bennington in 1971.
Mr. Cassidy was employed for many years at General Electric Co.
He was a member of the Italian Aid Club, Loyal Order of the Moose, Knights of Columbus and past president of the Eagles Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, belonged to Rutland Country Club and Neshobe Golf Club and was a ski instructor, as well as sports mentor, for children.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Doran) of North Chittenden, whom he married July 8, 1978; two brothers, David Cassidy of West Rutland and Jon Timothy Cassidy of Rutland; two sisters, Lynn Cassidy of Burlington and June Cassidy of Rutland; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cassidy was predeceased by a brother, Michael Cassidy.
The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Clifford Funeral Home where calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
