PERKINSVILLE - Evelyn M. Martin, 92, formerly of Springfield, died July 14, 2012, at her home.

She was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Port Lorne, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Harry L. and Ida V. (Whitman) Sabin.
She graduated from Keene (N.H.) High School.
On Nov. 14, 1938, she married Sherman A. Martin in Marlborough, N.H.
In Springfield, Mrs. Martin was employed at Fellows Gear Shaper for several years as a clerk and at Wilson Jewelers for 10 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield where she taught religious education and belonged to Catholic Daughters of America.
She volunteered at blood drives in Springfield and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and reading.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Rogers of Perkinsville; three siblings, Ralph Sabin of Somerville, Mass., Harry Sabin of Denver, Colo., and Beulah Stillings of Keene, N.H.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Martin was predeceased by her husband in 1978; a daughter, Judith Coutermarsh; and a brother, Lawrence Sabin.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, with the Rev. Peter Williams, pastor, officiating and followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield.
