Forrest Brown Obituary

PROCTORSVILLE - Forrest E. "Brownie" Brown, 92, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2011, at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow.

Forrest was born on February 9, 1919, in Proctorsville, the son of the late Ernest and Rosella (Bresett) Brown. He attended Black River Academy in Ludlow. After enlisting in the Navy, he served aboard the USS Patroclus during WWII.

Mr. Brown was employed for many years by the Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield, until his retirement. Forrest loved working in his garden, fishing, feeding his birds and the Boston Red Sox. He would often be seen, in true Vermont fashion, sitting in a favorite chair, in his open garage, visiting with friends and relatives at his home in Proctorsville.

Survivors include his beloved sister, Evelyn Morris, and his niece, Virginia Moore, both of North Clarendon; niece Janet Sommersal of Windsor; niece Marilyn Geno of Bridgewater Corners; nephew Richard Brown of Bellows Falls; nephew Joe Blanchard of Proctorsville; a stepdaughter, Delores Bailey of Deltona, Fla.; his caregivers, Judy and Norm Spaulding of Proctorsville; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Forrest was predeceased by his wife, Maxine, in 2001 and his brother, Earl, in 2006.

There will be no funeral services. At Forrest's request, the cremation arrangements are being handled by Green Mountain Direct Cremation Service, Windsor, under the care of the Rev. Ken White.

A committal service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Humane Society, 401 Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, VT 05156.
